Unlike Amazon, eBay's final value fee applies to the total amount the buyer pays, including the shipping you charge them — not just the item price. That's a common surprise for sellers who set shipping charges high assuming it's fee-free.
Worked Example
Example: Item sells for $40 + $6 shipping charged to buyer, category fee 13%. Final value fee = ($40+$6) × 13% = $5.98. If COGS is $15, net profit = $40 + $6 − $15 − $6 (your actual shipping cost) − $5.98 = $9.02.
