Free Tile Calculator

Find how many tiles and boxes you need for your project.

Tile waste allowance covers cuts around edges, corners, and breakage — 10% is standard for simple rectangular layouts, but diagonal layouts or rooms with lots of corners/obstacles often need 15-20%.

Worked Example

Example: A 120 sq ft room with 12in × 12in tiles (1 sq ft each) and 10% waste needs 132 tiles. At 8 tiles per box, that's 17 boxes.

Formula / Method

Tiles Needed = (Area / Tile Area) × (1 + Waste%)
Boxes = ceil(Tiles Needed / Tiles per Box)
