Calculate your weighted course grade, or what you need on the final.

Weighted grading means categories don't count equally — a 95% homework average matters less toward your final grade if homework is only 10% of the course versus if it's 40%. Make sure your category weights add up to 100% for an accurate result.

Worked Example

Example: Homework 90% (20% weight), Exams 82% (50% weight), Final 30% weight unknown. If target grade is 85%: needed final score = (85 − 90×0.2 − 82×0.5) / 0.3 = 90% needed on the final.

Formula / Method

Overall Grade = Σ(Category Score × Category Weight)
Needed Final Score = (Target − Σ Known Weighted Scores) / Final Weight
